Healthy & Tasty Smoothie Bowl Recipes

I’ve always loved smoothies as they’re so easy to whizz together and you can make them healthy or a treat for any time of the day.

Smoothie bowls have been floating around recently and I always look and them and want to make them but of course I never get round to it. However I’ve finally been productive for once in my life and went out to buy some ingredients to make two delicious smoothie bowls.
For this post, I made my two first ever smoothie bowls and I was so happy with how they turned out, although I faced some difficulties with one smoothie as it went a ‘little’ bit runny!

So I made a Summer Berry Smoothie and a Chocolate Peanut Butter with Banana smoothie which both are perfect for a tasty treat! For both smoothies I blended all the ingredients together with a mixer and then just placed the topping on top but the toppings are optional.

Summer Berry Smoothie;
This one has to be my favourite as it’s fresh, tangy and perfect for a cool down on a summers day. This would be a perfect breakfast option with granola or as a refreshing snack throughout the day. This was so easy to whizz together and here’s how to make it;

Ingredients;

  •  1 ½ cup of frozen berries
  •  4 tbsp fat free natural yogurt
  •  10g chia seeds
Toppings;
  •  Handful of granola
  • Mixture of berries (I just used some of the frozen berries from before)
  • Small handful of chia seeds
Using frozen fruit is perfect as it gives the smoothie a cold, refreshing taste whilst is also much more cheaper and practical than fresh fruit. I love how this smoothie only requires a small amount of ingredients as it makes it quick and easy which is why I think it’s perfect for breakfast.
I used granola as a topping which tastes so nice with the smoothie and I would definitely recommend it as for a breakfast option it makes the smoothie a bit more filling and tasty.

Chocolate Peanut Butter & Banana;

If you’re looking for a chocolatey tasty snack then this is the one for you. I wasn’t a big fan of this one as I added banana to make it a bit thicker but I’m not a big fan of banana flavoured things so if you’re like me, I would leave the banana out of this one!
This would be perfect for an afternoon snack or for a delicious pudding served with fruit. I would recommend putting this in the fridge before eating as it thickens it up a little bit and makes it cold and refreshing.

Ingredients;
  • 3 ½  tbsp fat free natural yogurt
  •  1 tbsp peanut butter
  •  ½  banana
  •  ½  tbsp Nutella
  •  ½  tbsp syrup
  • 10g chia seeds
Toppings;
  • Handful of granola
  • ½  banana

I added ice to this which I would definitely not recommend as it made it so runny which is why I was trying to make the smoothie thicker and I ended up adding so much more ingredients than I planned but it ended up working okay!

Will you be making any of these smoothie bowls?
